The City of Subiaco is inviting submissions on a proposal to designate the Park Street Heritage Area. The area comprises numbers 91 – 121 Park Street, 87 – 142 Townshend Road, 3 Kings Road, 77 - 121 Bagot Road, 67 – 96 Olive Street, and 139 – 184 Barker Road, Subiaco.
The heritage assessment concludes that the area has aesthetic, social and historic value to the City and, as most properties within the proposed heritage area have retained a medium to high level of authenticity, the area warrants designation as a heritage area.
Each heritage area is required to have its own specific Local Planning Policy that outlines the boundaries of the heritage area, includes a statement of significance for the area and identifies the levels of contribution each place makes to the significance of the area. Draft Local Planning Policy 3.15 – Park Street Heritage Area (LPP 3.15) has been prepared for the proposed heritage area.
Should Council resolve to designate the Park Street Heritage Area the management of heritage values will be achieved by the application of Local Planning Policy 3.4 - Development guidelines for residential heritage areas (LPP 3.4). This policy contains general provisions relating to demolition, subdivision, additions and alterations, new building development, front fences and off-street parking.
If you wish to discuss this proposal further, please contact Sofia Boranga, Coordinator Heritage and Projects, on (08) 9237 9222 or email heritage@subiaco.wa.gov.au.
