At the City of Subiaco we encourage community involvement to help inform our decision making and we invited you to participate in consultation for a possible arts hub for the City of Subiaco.

About the project - A possible Arts Hub for Subi?

Subiaco is home to many arts and cultural institutions. As well as these great venues, there is an opportunity for the City to look even further and find ways to find or make space for local creative practitioners – a possible ‘Arts Hub’.

An arts hub can take many forms, but in general it can be one or more spaces with a specific remit to encourage creative practice and to provide facilities such as studio workspaces, gallery space, workshop and training areas, and technical equipment.

The first step in exploring possible spaces was to survey the local community, artists and creatives to find out whether an arts hub is needed, and what people might want in a space. The City of Subiaco appointed Hatch RobertsDay to undertake a survey and study to help plan for a possible arts hub.

The City wishes to make clear that there is no Council decision or budget allocation to develop or construct a Subiaco Arts Hub at this time.

The consultation was high level to provide input into a feasibility study.

Thank you to all those who took part in the survey. Your answers will help to gauge whether there is demand for an arts hub, and if so, guide the City towards a suitable location, best content, and sustainable ways to run and manage the hub into the future.

Consultation on a possible arts hub for Subiaco closed at 5pm on Monday 28 March 2022.

If you would like more information please contact the City on 9237 9222 or email city@subiaco.wa.gov.au.
