Nature Play Solutions - voted preferred playground

We are excited to announce at the City’s Ordinary Council Meeting on Tuesday 27 May, Option 1 (Nature Play Solutions) was endorsed for the design and construction of the new playground at Mueller Park (including removal of current playground).

We had over 80 community members take part in the voting and the results were close, with Option 1 being the most preferred playground. In particular the flying fox was a standout in the comments, as there is not one currently in Subiaco.

• Option 1 – 32 votes (40%)
• Option 3 – 27 votes (33%)
• Option 2 – 22 votes (27%)

As part of the upgrade, it is planned that new BBQs, water fountain and the missing shade sail will also be upgraded/installed (the existing three shade sails will be cleaned/retained).

During the consultation we received comments about the toilets at Meuller Park, while an upgrade to the toilets is outside the scope of this project, the feedback has been noted for future consideration

There were also comments about the water play feature in the current playground (which has been out of action for some time). It has reached the end of its useful life and will be removed as part of the works. We are aware it is has been a much loved feature of the park (including by my own children), and decision was made with careful consideration of sustainability, safety and maintenance challenges.

The start date for the works is yet to be confirmed; however, the city is aiming to complete the project before the end of 2025. We will keep you updated via this page as more information becomes available.
