Local Law review 2026
We’re reviewing our local laws to ensure they remain current, and we’re seeking your feedback.
The Local Government Act 1995 enables Western Australian local governments to make local laws which are considered necessary for the good government of their districts.
To ensure they remain current and suitable for their intended purpose, Section 3.16 of the Local Government Act 1995 establishes a statutory review process, requiring each local law to be periodically reviewed to determine whether it should be repealed, amended, or remain unchanged.
As part of the Local Government reforms and implementation of the Local Government Amendment Act 2024, the City of Subiaco is required to review all local laws within a two-year period, prior to 7 December 2026, unless a review occurred within the last eight years.
At the Ordinary Council Meeting (OCM) on 28 July 2026, Council approved the review of seven City of Subiaco local laws. Link to Council minutes extract.
The review will be undertaken in two groups:
Group 1 - open for comment from Friday 31 July to Friday 11 September 2026
