Waste staff with truck and recycling bin

About the project

The City of Subiaco is currently using the refuse provisions of the City’s Health Local Law which will be repealed in its entirety when the Public Health Act 2016 comes into full effect. At the Ordinary Council Meeting held on 14 December 2021, the City resolved to make a local law relating to waste services.

The purpose and effect of the law is to assist the City in administering sustainable waste and recycling services to maintain consistent, cost effective and functional waste management practices to aid in the reduction of waste to landfill.

Residents and businesses will not notice any change to their waste collection services as a result of the new local law. More information about bins, recycling and waste services can be found on the City's website.

The Draft Waste Local Law 2021 is available to view in the Document Library. Submissions about the proposed law closed at 5pm on Monday 11 April 2022.

Outcome and update

Thank you to those who provided a submission. At its meeting on Tuesday 31 May 2022, Council endorsed the City of Subiaco Waste Local Law 2022. The new law comes into effect on 1 July 2022. You can read the City's news article here.
