Successful walking tour

As part of the Daglish Local Heritage Survey (LHS) a free historic walking tour of Daglish was held on Saturday 18 November.

Over 50 people joined the walk which was led by heritage expert Annette Green. The walk started at Cliff Sadlier Memorial Park then meandered through Daglish ending at Dom Serra Grove (corner Hay and Jersey Streets).

We heard forgotten stories of infectious disease cemeteries, poultry farms, egg laying competitions, the Daglish Village shopping centre and the Government horse yards. Interestingly, the oldest house in Daglish is still standing (just!). Built in 1922 (before the houses near the railway were constructed) at 621 Hay Street (opposite McDonalds).
