FAQs
What is a Council Plan?
The Local Government Act 1995 requires all local governments to have a plan for the future. The Council Plan is a combination of the Strategic Community Plan and Corporate Business Plan in one document, and identifies the long term priorities, goals and overall vision for a local government to guide decision making.
The consolidated Council Plan provides clear alignment of our community’s priorities with our long term vision, objectives, outcomes, projects, services, measures of success, and resources.
The Council Plan in turn informs the City’s Annual Budget, which provides funding allocations to key priorities, and the Annual Report, which provides insight into the City’s performance each year.
Why is the City undertaking this project?
Integrated planning and reporting provides local governments with a framework for translating community priorities and aspirations into operational objectives, and tracking progress in delivering on these objectives. The City of Subiaco uses the Integrated Planning and Reporting Framework outlined in by the Local Government Act 1995 and the Local Government (Administration) Regulations 1996. These detail that a local government must have a “Plan for the Future”.
How was the draft Council Plan developed?
The Council Plan was developed through extensive consultation with the community across a range of touchpoints, including online and face-to-face. Input from over 1000 community members was used as part of the process.
What is the timeline for the development of the Council Plan?
To ensure that the community’s changing aspirations are reflected, a review is undertaken every four years. We are currently commencing our major review, which is expected to be adopted in mid-2025.
