Disability is part of being human. Almost everyone will temporarily or permanently experience disability at some point in their life. While the City of Subiaco's Disability Access and Inclusion Plan aims to support people with disability, improved access and inclusion in our Subiaco community benefits people of all ages and abilities. It is a win-win situation.

Background information

The City of Subiaco's Disability Access and Inclusion Plan helps us identify areas for improvement to address the needs of the community in the following areas:

  • Access to City's events and services
  • Access to buildings and facilities
  • Access to information and quality of service
  • Access to opportunities to provide feedback and participate in public consultation
  • Access to employment opportunities

The Disability Services Act 1993 requires that all local and state government bodies renew their Plans at least every five years. As the City's current Plan has reached a five-year milestone, the City is seeking feedback from community members, service providers. community groups, businesses, and visitors to identify priorities and actions for the City's Disability Access and Inclusion Plan 2023-2028.

Sharing your ideas

There were many opportunities to provide feedback throughout the month of June 2022 including:

  • An online survey. A hard copy survey was also available at City facilities.
  • A static feedback board at Subiaco Library.
  • A community workshop on 23 June.
  • A stall at Subiaco Farmers Market on 11 June.
  • A workshop with the Disability Access and Inclusion Committee on 21 November.
  • A strategic workshop with Elected Members on 29 November.

There is now an opportunity to provide feedback on the Draft Plan available to download below. We invite you to share your thoughts on the Plan by completing the survey below. Alternatively, you can send your feedback via email to culture@subiaco.wa.gov.au or call us at 9237 9222 to request the survey in an alternative format.

The survey will be available until Tuesday 31 January 2023 (now closed).
